A fierce Kalabaisakhi storm caused widespread destruction in Bhadrak’s Chandabali block and Pallahara region, where strong winds uprooted trees and damaged houses, including those of Anjan Behera and Bharati Muduli in Chandanpur village, while electric poles and wires were also snapped; despite the devastation, no casualties have been reported. The storm severely impacted public life, flattening boundary walls, uprooting large trees across roads, and disrupting the ongoing Chandan Yatra as Meena Bazaar stalls, opera stages and tents were blown away, with reports also indicating damage to houses and loss of domestic animals in several villages.
